Pastoral or Spiritual Support

Pastoral or Spiritual Counselling Support

Pastoral, spiritual and faith related issues are only ever introduced into the therapy process at the request of the client. NEVER are any faith, spiritual or religious models imposed into therapy, which otherwise remains clinical or philosophical.

We do not provide any form of conversion therapy. We are an inclusive provider, and we will work with you over the therapy process to ensure we are the clinically appropriate service for your needs and that working with your needs will be within our competency, and match our service specialisms

Spiritual work within therapy

Where the client has a stated interest in, or adherence to an existing faith or spiritual model, where possible therapy will be adapted to incorporate that model in an appropriate and positive manner.  To that end Stuart in particular has studied a range of faith models including:

  • Multi-faith
  • Western Tradition
  • Buddhism
  • Taoism
  • Paganism
  • Druid based Paganism
  • Christianity
  • Islam
  • Judiasm
  • New Age
  • Kabbalah

Obviously depth of knowledge varies between faiths. all faiths are treated as equally valid and there is absolutely no desire to convert, change or modify belief.

Who provides the pastoral support

Stuart has completed various types of training, both formal and informal in a range of the above faiths, as well as related eastern psychology models. He has been involved in the area since the mid 1980’s and has been involved and ordained in multifaith communities since around 1999.

Viljoen (2018) showed how pastoral coaching can be effective.
