Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis in Edinburgh
Stuart practices psychoanalysis at two locations in Edinburgh. The main location is at the South Side Therapy Centre in Causewayside. Some appointments are available also at Simpson House in the City Centre, although these are limited.
What is psychoanalysis and psychotherapy useful for?
As a trained psychoanalyst and clinical hypnotherapist, Stuart specialises in stress and anxiety related disorders, depression management, bipolar management, general mental health and general psychoanalysis. Hypnotherapy is used as a psychotherapy tool alongside psychoanalysis and specialist areas include public speaking, performance, sports hypnosis, phobias and general personal development.
CBT based psychological therapy (as recommended by NICE for a broad range of mental health conditions) is combined with psychoanalysis and clinical hypnotherapy to provide a holistic package, customised to the needs of the individual.
Stuart also provides couples therapy, using a psychoanalytic approach, but integrating different models as needed. Stuart works with individuals and relationships of all backgrounds and sexual preferences.
Qualified in Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy
Stuart is a Fellow of the National Council of Psychotherapists and a full member of the National Association of Counsellors, Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists. These professional bodies are accreditation routes for CNHC registration under hypnotherapy (the voluntary complementary health regulator set up with Government funding and support). Stuart is also registered on both the CNHC and FHT AR schemes. AR or accredited register schemes are maintained by the Professional Standards Agency for health care professions not subject to statutory regulation.
