Stuart initially trained in psychoanalysis, but has since also trained in a range of psychotherapy models including CBT. He uses an integrative approach, combining the therapies best suited to the client.

When working with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, GAD, DID, NEAD he bases this integrative around CBT based psychological therapies (as recommended by NICE).
